Humla linked to national road network

BAJURA, DECEMBER 13

Humla has been connected with the national road network after completion of the 27-kilometre road section along the Karnali Corridor.

Humla district has been connected to the national highway for the first time following completion of the 27- km road section from Bajura’s Kawadi to Surkegard Rural Municipality of Humla.

Federal lawmaker of Humla Chhak Bahadur Lama, District Coordination Committee President Dan Bahadur Rawal, Chief District Officer Chiranjibi Giri and the team inspected the road today.

Giri said the road section was ready for operation. He said the process of operating transportation service had started and vehicles would ply the road within a month.

Nepali Army Captain Shankar Silwal at Tithichaur camp said vehicles could ply 111-kilometre road along the Karnali corridor in Humla.

Locals said people at Tajakot, Adanchuli, Surkeghat Rural Municipality of Humla and Serukot Rural Municipality of Mugu would benefit after operation of transport service to Balguna of Humla.

Takakot Maila Rural Municipality Chair Bagdal Malla said people of Humla looked happy to see transport facility after high officials of the district inspected the road.

People of Humla were compelled to spend a week to reach Bajura and Kalikot to board a bus. They were also compelled to pay high fare for air service during emergencies due to lack of transportation service in Humla.

Nanda Bahadur Mahatara, a local, said that locals were very happy with the possibility that transportation service would be operated within a month in Humla.

Nepali Army had started construction of the road from 2014 with an estimated cost of Rs 2,841,116,000.
