HURPES flays arrests

Kathmandu, April 7:

Human Rights and Peace Society (HURPES), issuing a press release on Friday, flayed the recent arrest of journalists, professors, teachers, lawyers and rights activists, including Makwanpur branch member of the HURPES, Rajan Mainali, from Hetauda. Showing “autocratic character of the regime”, officials barred rights activists from meeting inmates kept at Duwakot barracks, it said.

The HURPES also urged the Maoists to release Sarlahi CDO Bodhraj Adhikari and chief of the jail section Anil Acharya, who were taken captive after the April 4 Malangwa attack.
