Huts, poultry farm for tremor victims

Various organisations of Nepal and abroad have constructed temporary houses as well as poultry farms for quake victims of Sindhupalchowk.
Chaudhary Foundation has constructed one temporary house each for 118 tremor victim families at Bhimtar VDC in Sindhupalchowk. The foundation had coordinated with Surat Human Service Union, Gujarat, India, for the construction of temporary huts.
The foundation constructed bamboo houses with zinc roof that have enough space for four members of a family. A budget of Rs 70,000 was spent in the construction of a single temporary house.
Local Danuwar community, who had lost their houses in the April 25 earthquake, have been elated after the construction of houses.
Binod Chaudhary, Chairman of the foundation, handed over the houses to the locals on Saturday. “We had a plan to construct concrete houses for the victims, however, temporary houses were constructed as the government did not allow the private sectors to do the same,” he informed.
Surat Human Service Union and Maheshwori Foundation jointly repaired Indrawati Community Health Centre at Sipaghat of Sindhupalchowk.
The health centre building was repaired with a budget of Rs 1.5 million. The repaired building was handed to the management committee of the health centre on Saturday.
Likewise, Hands for Help Nepal, Baisali Travels, Sahara Nepal and a Singapore national-Hayden Hoyu have jointly constructed poultry farming in Koltagaun and Sangachowk VDC of Sindhupalchowk. The local women are said to have benefited with the income from poultry farming.
Kalpana Shrestha, chairperson of Sahara Nepal, said poultry farming was established with one lakh rupees after the formation of Siladevi Women’s Group. The poultry farm was handed over to the group on Sunday.
