Hydro project shut

Sindupalchok: Locals of Western Sindupalchok shut down Indrawati III hydro electricity project on Friday, demanding the end of load-shedding in the project area.

Hundreds of people affected by the power outage came to the project site and obstructed the canal line. “The project area should be a load-shedding free area. We don’t want to stay in the dark by sending the electricity produced here elsewhere,” said former president of Melamchi VDC Dharma Krishna Shrestha.

Production centre chief Birendra Shrestha said load-shedding was a national problem and they couldn’t do anything. “The project is helping to reduce load-shedding in the current power crisis,” Shrestha added.
