PHIDIM: The death toll in Friday boat capsize in Maikhola of Ilam district has reached eight on Saturday as three more bodies were recovered this morning.

Som Bahadur Bhandari, In-charge of the Danabari Police Post, said those found dead today have been identified as Pushpanjali and Tulasi Khadka (twins aged 6) from Madhumalla of Morang and Krishna Ghatani (30) from Salbadi of Jhapa.

Five bodies were recovered from the incident site yesterday.

Meanwhile, police said seven of the eight victims have been identified as of Saturday.

Chief of the Ilam District Police Office, SP Sushil Yadav, informed that police arrested the boatman Parshu Banskota for further investigation.

While total 34 persons were rescued, some are still missing and the search is underway, according to Yadav.

Police, army and locals had continued the search today throughout the day.
