SINDHULIMADI: A police team arrested an Indian national for his involvement in smuggling gold on the BP Highway road section at Ratachura VDC in Sindhuli on Sunday night.

Sanjaya Singh of Kolkata, India, was held with around 700 grams gold. DSP Anurag Kumar Dwebedi, of Sindhuli District Police Office, said the police team arrested Singh during security checking while he was travelling in a micro-bus en route to Kakadvitta from Kathmandu.

Singh and the seized yellow metal have been kept at the DPO, said police.

The confiscated gold is worth Rs 2.61million at the current market rate, informed DSP Dwebedi.
