Illegal infrastructure to be demolished

Infrastructure constructed illegally constructed along Mugling-Kotre road section of Prithvi Highway will be demolished soon for expansion of the road.
The houses and huts constructed without meeting the criteria along the road section will be demolished to expand the road section from Mugling, Chitwan to Pokhara.
Asian Development Bank has helped to expand the four-lane road along the section. Division Road Office, Tanahun issued a public notice to remove illegal huts and houses from the road section one month ago.
Chief at Division Road Office, Tanahun, Bhanu Joshi said residents in the area had ignored the notice. “We will start demolishing illegally constructed houses and huts after two or three days,” he added.
As many as 2,500 houses and huts were constructed earlier. Division Office Engineer Karna Singh Khatri said the huts and houses not leaving 25 metres on both sides would be demolished.
ADB has completed a survey for construction of the four-lane road along the section. It has planned to accomplish the construction work within three years. Road Division Office, Tanahun said a Korean team has returned after the soil test to construct the four-lane bridge over the Madi River.
