SIRAHA, FEBRUARY 25
Uncontrolled exploitation of natural resources is going on in Siraha in nexus with local people's representatives and police administration.
Though random excavation is under way in Naraha Rural Municipality, and Dhangadi and Gol Bazaar municipalities, the local governments have become mere spectators. The police administration is also not serious about stopping these illegal activities. No crusher industry has been registered in Naraha Rural Municipality and Gol Bazaar Municipality thus far, locals say excavation of gravel in these local levels is under way by unduly influencing the elected people's representatives and the police administration.
"Every day, dozens of tippers chug down the road carrying gravel and billowing dust off the road through Choharwa Chowk, but the police and people's representatives don't do anything," said a local. Ward No 3 Chair Mohambad Rustam of Naraha Rural Municipality said no crusher industry was registered in the rural municipality.
"Permission was issued earlier to dig a pond, but apart from that, there hasn't been any permission for crusher industry," Rustam said.
