BIRGUNJ: Five tractors belonging to an Indian company Shaktiman were seized as they were brought to the country evading customs, from Chhapakainya of Birgunj at mid-night, Sunday.

According to Parsa SP Rajubabu Shrestha, the police team seized the tractors but the drivers fled when they saw the police team.

Police said the tractors were imported from India by Umesh Iron Traders of Bardibas, Mahottari.

A staff of the trading company Dinesh Sah said that they have submitted all the necessary documents to customs agents earlier.

He said they had brought the tractors through Chhoti Border due to the obstruction in Birgunj border area.

Police said the seized tractors have been sent to the Revenue Investigation Office, Pathlaiya for further action.
