'Implement Bardiya killing report'

KATHMANDU: National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) chairman Kedar Nath Upadhyay today urged the government to implement Bardiya killing probe report. Two women and a girl were killed in Bardiya by Nepali Army personnel on March 10.

Devisara BK, Amrita BK and a girl child Chandrakala BK were killed on March 10 by Army personnel.

The deceased were accused of involved in poaching.s

Saying that the government should implement the decision of the constitutional rights body, Upadhyay added that the National Human Rights Commission has done its part and now the onus lies on the government to do the needful.

Upadhyay, who said so while talking to civil society members, also urged them to press the government to implement the probe report.

The civil society members had called on NHRC commissioners demanding punishment to those involved in the killing.

On April 1, National Human Rights Commission had published its report and indicted Nepali Aarmy personnel of misusing power entrusted to them by the state.

In its report, the constitutional rights body had recommended the government to prosecute the army personnel involved in the killings.
