Implementation of Dalit rights challenging: Minister Shreepaili
KATHMANDU: Minister for Youths and Sports Daljit Shreepaili has said that Dalit people were conferred on numerous rights through new constitution, however, implementation was quite challenging.
During a programme organised in the capital today to mark the 52nd International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination, Minister Shreepaili, however, said some significant issues were yet to be incorporated in the national charter.
Despite this, struggles and commitment from all sides were essential to materialize the Dalit rights he further said.
He also urged the Dalit rights activists to make the local election a success and continue struggle to establish their rights.
Likewise, lawmaker Jitu Gautam said time has come to establish the Dalit struggle as the national movement. "Efforts should be continued to address the remaining issues of Dalit rights," he underscored.
Similarly, speaking on the occasion, Dalit rights activist Moti Nepali said the State was still hostile to institutionalize Dalit rights.
