Impoverished woman seeks help for her treatment
Rajbiraj, November 10
Lalakudevi Paswan, a patient of ulcer and jaundice, of Bode Barsain Municipality-2, Saptari, has appealed for financial help for her treatment.
“I have been somehow managing money for treatment till date by borrowing from my near and dear ones, but as the disease doesn’t seem to be cured, I need more money, which I don’t have,” she lamented.
A daily wage labourer, Lalakudevi’s plight worsened after her husband Dharmalal developed mental illness four years ago.
Her eldest son, Bikram, aged 19, could not continue his studies beyond Grade X due to the poor financial condition of his family.
“As mother too was suffering from various diseases after my father developed mental illness, I didn’t have any option other than to quit my studies in order to work to earn money for family,” said Bikram, whose youngest son is also differently abled.
“When my mother was not suffering from any illness, she earned for the family but ever since she fell ill, I’ve been providing for the family,” Bikram said, who appealed for help for his mother’s treatment.
“So far, we have managed by borrowing from our kin, but now the doctor has asked us to manage five lakh for her treatment. As I’m in no position to manage the fund, there is no option, but to seek help,” he said.
