Mahottari, March 18:

A woman here has been murdered by her in-laws for not bringing enough dowry. It has been revealed that Srijana Singh (22), the wife of Pabitra Singh of Itaharwakatti VDC in Mahottari, was murdered by her in-laws. The police also seized the 22-year-old’s body while the in-laws were taking it for cremation today. A team of policemen led by inspector Uddat Tamang seized the body. Her father Bikram Singh Koiri, a resident of Maisthan VDC 4, has filed a case against her in-laws in the Mahottari District Police Office, accusing them of killing his daughter after physically torturing her for many days.

Police said Srijana might have been murdered as she had black and blue scars all over her body. The case is under investigation, the police stated.
