KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 19

The District Administration Office, Parsa, has imposed an indefinite curfew within Birgunj effective from Monday evening.

Chief District Officer (CDO) of Parsa district, Dinesh Sagar Bhusal, issued a notice on Monday evening, stating that the curfew has been in effect since 5:00 PM on Monday until further notice.

The curfew encompasses areas from Nagawa Chowk in the east to Tilabe Bridge in the west, Parbanipur Parsa in the north, and Miteri Pul (Custom) in the south of Birgunj city.

CDO Bhusal explained that the curfew was implemented due to clashes between two parties during a protest organized by the Hindu Samaj against an incident at Ishanath Municipality in Rautahat.

During the curfew, the movement of people is prohibited, and any form of anarchic activities such as demonstrations, protests, and assemblies within the curfew areas is strictly prohibited, according to Bhusal.

Meanwhile, security measures have been intensified in Birgunj Metropolitan City in response to the curfew.

DSP Kumar Bikram Thapa mentioned that approximately 1,000 security personnel from the Nepal Police and Armed Police Force have been deployed in various locations to address security concerns.
