What we want is impartial judiciary: Shashank Koirala
KATHMANDU: Top leaders of two ruling parties -- Nepali Congress and CPN Maoist Centre -- decided to move the impeachment motion against Chief Justice Sushil Karki because questions were raised against judiciary's independence and impartiality because of her, according to Nepali Congress General Secretary Shashank Koirala.
"What we want is independent and impartial judiciary," Koirala said, speaking at a regular press meet organised in the party's central office today.
He maintained that the elections scheduled for May 14 will take place in Province No. 3, 4 and 6 as scheduled.
According to him, the constitution amendment process will be continued in the Parliament without affecting the elections in first phase.
Candidates have to file their nomination at the Election Offices for the local level elections tomorrow.
