KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 24

Under the Government of India's 'Vaccine Maitri' initiative, the Indian Army gifted 100,000 doses of made-in-India vaccines to the Nepali Army amid a ceremony at the Nepali Army Headquarters today.

The vaccines were handed over by Lieutenant General PN Ananthanarayanan, SM, President Gorkha Brigade Lieutenant General Bal Krishna Karki, VCOAS of the Nepali Army.

Lieutenant General Ananthanarayanan also lauded the gallantry and commitment of Gorkha soldiers in the Indian Army and expressed his commitment to serve the Gorkha community.

The VCOAS of the Nepali Army welcomed the gift of vaccines and expressed happiness over the cooperation extended by the Indian Army, according to the Embassy of India.

The Indian Army has been assisting the Nepali Army to fight COVID-19 through various kinds of assistance since 2020 by providing Covishield vaccines, medical equipment, and ambulances, among others.

The latest gift of vaccines is another testimony of the close cooperation between the two armies and the two neighbouring countries, particularly in times of need, said the embassy.
