KATHMANDU, AUGUST 15

The Indian Embassy in Nepal planted plants in its premises in Kathmandu in commitment to India's 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign, today.

The campaign, inaugurated by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on World Environment Day 2024, encourages individuals to plant trees in honor of their mothers.

This initiative has gained widespread support and participation, according to the statement issued by Indian Embassy in Kathmandu. Members of the Indian diaspora and India-Nepal Friendship associations have joined the effort by planting saplings to promote environmental protection and sustainability, it added.

On 11 August, the Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, in a show of solidarity with this green initiative, planted a Nili Gulmohar sapling within the Embassy's premises. This action followed a similar contribution by Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, Minister for Forests and Environment, Government of Nepal, who also planted a Nili Gulmohar sapling at the Embassy.

As part of the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative, the Indian Embassy marked India's 78th Independence Day, today, by planting 78 saplings on its grounds. Embassy officials, their families, and children participated in the event, reflecting ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability and global well-being.

The 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' campaign continues to galvanize action and underscores the collective responsibility for protecting our environment, the embassy said.
