Indian flood victims cry foul

Rajbiraj, September 20:

Indian nationals, sheltering in a temporary relief camp in Bhardaha of Sunsari district, said they are yet to get relief, though they were provided with ration cards.

Punit Narayan Meheta of Birpur in India’s Saharsha district said they got 12 kg of rice and 7 kg of pulse on August 28. “Since then, we have got nothing. Rice ration lasted only for seven days. We have been surviving on food provided by relatives,” Meheta, who has an eight-member family, said.

Another flood victim Umesh Marik of Bhagwanpur in India’s Supaul district also said they were being sidelined.

Similar is the plight of another victim. We are yet to get relief, said Santosh Marik of Koreapatti in India.

“Foodstuffs and utensils were provided to fellow victims; we have received nothing,” Marik complained.
