Indian grant for education, culture
KATHMANDU: Various executing agencies of the government of Nepal today signed four separate Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with the Embassy of India in Kathmandu.
India has agreed to provide a grant assistance of Rs 15.7 million to Shree Fikkal Higher Secondary School in Ilam for the construction of a school building and for other material support. The school presently runs classes in buildings that are over 65 years old.
Similarly, Rs 27 million would be provided for the construction of various infrastructure for the Shree Dwardevi Secondary School in Alau VDC-6 of Parsa. Some 1100 students that include 46 per cent girls will benefit after the completion of the project.
Likewise, a grant assistance of Rs 35.2 million will be provided for the Tikapur Multiple Campus in Tikapur of Kailali for the construction of a two-storied college block, a library and for other material support. The college has been running classes of Bachelors' and Masters' level. Some 1700 students from Kailali and neighbouring districts will benefit from the assistance, the embassy said.
The Society for Development of Lalitpur will receive a Rs 32.6 million for the restoration of various buildings of historical and cultural importance in the district.
