BAGLUNG: Police arrested an Indian national in possession of 14.5 kilograms impure silver jewelleries from Baglung Municipality-2, the Baglung district headquarters, on Saturday night. The arrested has been identified as Surendra Saha (51) of Aadapur in Aurahiyathana-4 of Motihari district in India. Acting on a tip-off, a team deployed from the District Police Office, Baglung detained Saha with varieties of silver jewelleries worth Rs 320,000 approximately, from Traffic Chok two nights ago, according to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Bishwa Rajsingh Thapa at the DPO. Saha had been involved in transporting contraband jewelleries belonging to Raksaul-based Indian trader and selling out to traders in Baglung, Sub Inspector (SI) of Police Damodar Bhattarai informed. The examination of confiscated jewelleries revealed that each of the items contained only 50 per cent pure silver, police said. Saha would be handed over to the Belahiya-based Bhairahawa Customs Office, in Rupandehi district, for further investigation into the case, SI Bhattarai informed.
