Indigenous women to organise meet

Kathmandu, August 7:

The National Network of Indigenous Women will organise a four-day national convention to push their demands of proportional representation in the Constitution Assembly (CA) as well as mark the 15th World Indigenous Nationalities Day-2007.

Speaking at a press conference organised today by the network, Lucky Sherpa, president of the network, said they will celebrate this occasion as a day of revolution for the rights of indigenous nationalities. She said: “When the CA polls are near, the celebration of indigenous nationalities’ day is of great significance.”

The programme includes interaction on ‘Proportional representation of Indigenous Nationalities women in CA’ on August 8 and a rally to be taken out from Basantapur on August 9. They would make public an awareness song and a documentary on indigenous nationalities.
