PARSA: A drunken man was drowned after falling into an open water-filled gutter last night in Birgunj of Parsa district.

Gopal Sharma (30) of Ganeshman Chok in Birgunj Sub Metropolitan City-6 was excessively drunk at the time he fell into the gutter, police said.

Sharma had fallen into a three-foot gutter near the Mahavir Temple and had not been able to get out, Inspector Jeev Lal Judali, Chief of the Ward Police Office, Birta confirmed.

Passersby who had noticed the body in the gutter had informed police about the incident this morning.

Sharma's body has been taken to Narayani Sub-Regional Hospital for a postmortem, police said.
