Info centre boon for Kaski folk

Villagers in Kaski have been benefiting from the Youth Information Centre (YIC) established in four places.

YICs were established at Chapakot, Puranchaur, Kaskikot and Dhikurpokhari for providing all kind of local and urban areas-related information to the villagers two years ago. Dhikurpokhari Youth Group, Nawapragati Youth Group Puranchaur, Hatemalo Youth Group Chapakot and Nawajyoti Youth Group Kaskikot are providing myriad information to the villagers through the YICs.

Representatives of the groups said over 20,000 people of four VDCs are benefiting from information technology.

Chairperson of Hatemalo Youth Group at Chapakot, Santosh KC, said the YICs were providing information on prices of agriculture products and health to the farmers and job opportunity and problems, human rights and information technology to the youths.

Chairperson of Dhikurpokhari Youth Group, Meena Bhandari said farmers and unemployed youths visit YICs seeking information. “We provide the price list of milk, vegetable and fruits to the farmers everyday,” Meena said. “We are also planning to provide Internet service,” chairman of Nawapragati Youth Group Puranchaur, Bishnu Bhujel, said.

Meanwhile, SAP International, SAP Nepa and Belanet today provided one computer each, along with pen-drives, digital cameras and stationery items to each YIC at a function.
