DHARAN: An inspector has been arrested in Dharan on charges of raping a local girl on Monday.

The victim has accused the inspector Gopal Giri of Area Police Office Dharan, of raping her in his quarters on Sunday night. Tensions grew when the girl along with her family members and womens rights activists demonstrated in front of the police office and obstructed vehicular movement for about 20 minutes demanding strong action against the culprit.

According to the Sunsari Police Office Giri and the girl have been detained for further investigation.
