IG pledges to dismantle organised crime network
Pokhara, May 13
Inspector General of Nepal Police Sarbendra Khanal today pledged to dismantle organised crime network in the country.
Speaking at a programme organised by District Police Office, Kaski, IG Khanal directed police personnel not to give in to goons and smugglers and work for the public fearlessly. “It is the duty of police to arrest people involved in organised crime,” Khanal said. He warned of suspending police officers found colluding with criminals.
Khanal said the entire police organisation could not be likened to a few tarnished police personnel. He urged police force to work for the poor. “Police have to provide security to citizens,” Khanal warned. Stating drug addiction had become a bane for youths in the country, Khanal directed the cops to fight drug smuggling. “Drug smugglers are culprits, who must be brought to justice,” he added.
Khanal supported freedom of tourists.
