Integration of PLA, NA will invite civil war: Koirala
GAIGHAT: Nepali Congress acting president Sushil Koirala today said that nation could plunge into a civil war if the Maoist fighters were integrated into the Nepali Army.
Addressing a press meet organised by Nepal Press Union in Udaypur's Gaighat on Sunday, he rather suggested the government to provide them some financial support so that they could get into business or foreign employment. Another way out could be deploying them for the security of borders, forests or industries, he added.
Koirala, further, claimed that the Maoist themselves backed from the government as their conspiracy to capture state power by fragmenting the NA failed. He reiterated that the President's decision to reinstate the erstwhile CoAS on the recommendation of political parties was an apt decision.
Likewise, Koirala maintained that the Maoists should return the seized private properties. He accused the Maoists of still continuing their anarchic activities like murder, robbery and forceful donation collection. He even accused that UNMIN that has been watching Nepal's peace process was biased. UNMIN remained a mute spectator even when the Maoist fighters wielding arms came out of the cantonments, he said, adding that the Maoists were trying to lead the nation towards caste based violence by declaring autonomous republican states. "Their activities are in no doubt violation of the Interim Constitution," he stressed.
