Interim govt after arms management: Minister

Member of the government talks team and Minister of State for Labour and Transport management, Ramesh Lekhak said that the Maoists would be involved in the interim government immediately after the management of their weapons.

Speaking to journalists in Mahendranagar today, Lekhak said the election to the constitution assembly would decide the status of the King.

“There is no need to keep on discussing the position of the King. His position will be decided by the constituent assembly,” said Lekhak.

Lekhak said the ongoing talks would be successful. He added that the government was determined to establish a democratic system in the country and restore peace through talks. “Since the goal and destination of both the government and Maoists are the same, the talks should be successful,” said Lekhak.

Saying that talks have been going ahead according to the eight-point agreement between the government and Maoists, the minister said the letter sent to the UN for supervision yesterday as as per the eight-point agreement.

He said the Maoist army would be kept in camps and that weapons would be managed according to the agreement among the three sides. The minister said, “People should not worry about the success of peace talks. It is time now to think about holding a free and fair election to of constituent assembly.”

The minister also inspected ongoing construction work in the overhead drinking water tank at Haldukhal of Mahendranagar.
