Interim govt must be formed soon: Nepal

Dang, March 10:

CPN (UML) general secretary Madhav Kumar Nepal today said that the nation would have to face a grave crisis if the interim government is not formed within a week.

Nepal was speaking at a press conference organised by the Dang chapter of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists in Ghorahi.

“It is necessary to form the interim government at the earliest and announce the date of the CA poll as regressive forces are getting active,” Nepal said, adding: “If these things are not done on time, the nation will face a grave crisis and the Prime Minister will be responsible for this.”

Nepal said questions would arise regarding the strength and intent of the present leadership if the interim government was not formed and CA polls not held on time.

Asked about the Madhes agitation, Nepal said, “The Madhesi people were demanding things such as federal system and proportional election. Since the government has addressed their demands, they are not raising those issues now.”

He added that the demands raised by the Madhesi Janaadhikar Forum (MJF) these days were not so complex. Nepal accused some forces of wrongly interpreting the UML proposal to include provision of impeachment of the king in the interim constitution.

He said no discussion has been held regarding formation of an interim government and division the council of ministers in the party.
