Internet access made available in remote rural area of Panchthar

PHIDIM: Internet system has been installed in all the ward offices including Phalelung Rural Municipality Office in Panchthar district for the first time.

The Wi-Fi services have been launched in all the wards of the rural municipality which is the remotest rural part in the district, with support from World Link Company.

According to the Executive Director Mausam Dhungel in the rural municipality, the wifi services have been operated after installing the internet device in Jimaha using Point-to-point protocol over Ethernet (PPOE) network protocol under the Digital subscriber line (DSL) system.

The meeting held under the leadership of the rural municipality chief Sancha Kumar Kerung on wednesday, made decision to reach the agreement with World Link Company.

The company technicians succeeded the experiment conducted to provide internet services in all eight wards by installing the device in Jimaha, the rural municipality office informed.

Meanwhile, locals are excited gaining access to the internet, said Lok Bahadur Kerung, a teacher at the Saraswati Secondary School, Memeng,

The rural municipality shares border with Indian states of Sikkim and West Bengal.
