HETAUDA, DECEMBER 31

CPN-Maoist Centre's Shalikram Jamkattel has been appointed as the party's parliamentary party leader in Bagmati Province.

The party had initiated the process of selecting its parliamentary party leader yesterday, but after no consensus was reached on any name, a meeting of the party today unanimously decided on Jamkattel as its parliamentary party leader.

It is interesting to note that though the party said the selection was consensual, the party's province Chairperson Saral Sahayatri Poudel has taken exception to Jamkattel's selection.

Besides Jamkattel, Poudel himself, former minister Yuvaraj Dulal and Ganga Narayan Shrestha had also staked claim to the post. Jamkattel is a provincial minister, and today after his name was proposed at the meeting, Poudel had walked out of the meeting.

The selection of the PP leader was indeed in line with the instruction of party Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, who had insisted that the leader be selected unanimously, not through voting.

CPN-MC leader Hitman Shakya and Narayan Dahal, on behalf of the party chair, had facilitated the unanimous selection.

CPN-MC is the third largest party in the Provincial Assembly in Bagmati Province.
