Japan, India greet Nepal on prez polls
Kathmandu, July 23:
Indian vice-president M Hamid Ansari congratulated the newly-elected Vice-President of Nepal, Parmananda Jha.
A statement issued today by the Indian Embassy quoted Ansari: “On my behalf, and on behalf of the people, the government and Parliament of India, I take this opportunity to convey warm felicitations on your historic election as the vice president of the Republic of Nepal.”
The statement added that the electoral process remained a vital component in Nepal’s transition to a federal, democratic republic and would enable Nepal to draft its new constitution.
“I look forward to working closely with your Excellency in further strengthening the close bonds of friendship that bind our countries.”
The government of Japan also congratulated the people of Nepal upon the successful election of its first president and vice-president. A statement issued by the Japanese Embassy said,
“Japan always has had firm support for the democratisation process, for peace and prosperity in Nepal.”
