POKHARA: An elderly Japanese tourist reportedly died after falling off a cliff while descending from view tower at Mardi Himal in Machhapuchre Rural Municipality-9 of Kaski district on Wednesday.

According to Kaski District Police Office, 64-year-old man Najasawa Majahsi plunged 800 metres down after losing footing while descending the cliff.

Kathmandu-based Himalayan Sherpa Adventure Company had sent six persons-- four Japanese nationals and two Nepali guides-- to Mardi Himal expedition on Friday, according to DPO Spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabindra Man Gurung.

"The site is in three days walking distance from Sardi Khola in Machhapuchre Rural Municipality," DSP Gurung shared.
