Japan's ex-PM Yukio Hatoyama in Pokhara

POKHARA: Former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, who is currently on Nepal visit, arrived here in Pokhara on Monday.

He is scheduled to visit Sarangkot and meet some local enterpreneurs in the tourist city tomorrow.

Nepal Chamber of Commerce invited Hatoyama, who served as Japan's executive head for over eight months, from September 16, 2009 to June 2, 2010, to visit Nepal.

Hatoyama had touched down in Kathmandu on Saturday.

He flew to Pokhara from the Capital this afternoon. After taking rest for some time at Hotel Grand, where he is residing, the former Japanese politician visited Lakeside.

Earlier on Saturday in Kathmandu, he had told the Nepal Chamber of Commercial office-bearers that he wanted to invest in a 17-MW hydroelectricity project in Nepal.

He had revealed that other Japanese investors were also interested in the project.
