Jeep, bikes vandalised; normal life halted by UDMF strike in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: A jeep was vandalised allegedly for defying the bandh called by the United Democratic Madhesi Front (UDMF) in Sakhuwa of Rautahat district along the Gaur-Chandranigahapur road section, on Saturday morning.

The Indian jeep with the registration number UP 53 AS 4200 carrying people for a wedding ceremony was vandalised.

Similarly, the protestors damaged more than seven motorcycles in Gaur, Sukadev Chok, Malahi, Samnpur, Garuda and Birta among other places.

The locals, who were in their homeland to celebrate the Chhath festival, are facing trouble to return their working places due to the obstruction on vehicular mobility by the cadres of UDMF.

Such activities of the agitators hard-hit the life of government staff and students, informed local Shyam Chandra Jha.

However, Shekh Jamshed, District Chariman of Shadbhawan Party, claimed that they were forced to obstruct all vehicles as they, mostly motorbikes, were used to smuggle petroleum products from India.

Review meeting on

Meanwhile, the UDMF constituents of Bara, Parsa and Rautahat district are holding a meeting in Kalaiya of Bara to review their protest programmes and plan new ones.

District level leaders of the parties have attended the meeting.
