Jhapa-4 voters focus on infrastructure

Jhapa, November 13

Voters of Jhapa Constituency No 4 have asked election candidates for their genuine commitment to construct the Postal Highway and other infrastructure across the constituency.

Voters from Kumarkhod, Tagandubba, Jhapa Bazaar and surrounding areas have conveyed this to candidates contesting the upcoming provincial and parliamentary elections.

Monaj Ganesh, a businessman, of Jhapa Bazaar said the construction of the highway would open the door to economic prosperity in the area mostly inhabited by indigenous communities and Muslim minorities, among other marginalised and disadvantaged groups. In this area, farmers suffer losses due to erosion caused by local rivers such as Kankai, Biring and Sano Mai during the rainy season every year.

Another local, Lakhi Ganesh in Jhapa Rural Municipality said,“Farmers here are always worried due to land erosion and destruction of crops and roads by floods during monsoon.” He further said that the locality also needed fire engine to tackle any incident of fire.

Deuman Thebe from Nepali Congress and Lal Prasad Sawa from the left alliance along with 11 other candidates are contesting the upcoming elections from the constituency of the district.
