JHAPA: A house was gutted after a fire broke out in a squatters' settlement in Jhapa district, on Saturday night.

The fire engulfed Sumitra Karki's house destroying properties, including clothes and food, worth Rs 500,000, police informed.

Police are yet to determine the cause of the fire.

The fire was taken under control by the locals and a fire engine dispatched from Damak Municipality.
