DAMAK: A man was killed in a wild elephant attack in Haldibari of Jhapa district in the wee hours of Friday.

Jalthal-based Police Post identified the deceased as Rathi Meche of Haldibari Rural Municipality-4.

Meche was trampled by the wild elephant while he was collecting mushrooms in the Chaukibiram Hariyali Community forest in the locality at around 3:00 am today, according to police.

Locals, who were collecting fodders in the forest recovered Meche's body and immediately called police this morning.
