CHITWAN: Journalist Shalikram Pudasaini, associated with Mountain Television, was found dead in a local hotel in Chitwan district yesterday night.

Pudasaini, a resident of Belkotgadhi Municipality-2 in Nuwakot district, had checked into Kangaroo Hotel in Narayangadh on Monday at around 3:30 in the afternoon. He was later found hanging in room no. 202 which he had taken.

When Pudasaini did not come down for dinner, a hotel employee went to his room to call him for his meal. But when the call was not answered and the door remained locked from inside, the hotel informed police at 10:00 pm yesterday night.

When police got the door opened, Pudasaini was found hanging inside the room, stated Information Officer at Chitwan District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ek Narayan Koirala.

Pudasaini had recently joined Mountain Television and had been running the programme Mission News. Prior to this, he had been working for News 24.

Family of the deceased assert that he was killed. Further investigation into the case is ongoing, said police.
