KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 15

The Ministry of Women, Children, and Senior Citizens has honoured various institutions and individuals for their contribution to controlling human trafficking.

They were awarded at a programme organised on the occasion of 15th National Day against Human Trafficking here today. Those receiving awards are Police Inspector Shreeram Thapa from Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau of Nepal Police Headquarters, journalist of Kantipur daily from Karnali Province Jyoti Katuwal, Kumar Yatru of Indigenous Television and Maya Tamang of Shakti Samuha, Kathmandu.

Similarly, others individuals to be awarded are Sandip Poudel associated with The Himalayan Times daily, Ajay Babu Shivakoti of hamrakura.com news portal and Manju Gurung of Paurakhi Nepal. The award carries purse of Rs 20,000 each. The ministry informed that it also distributed the awards that were decided last year. Earlier, the programme could not be held due to COVID-19.

Those individuals who received the award for last year are Inspector of Nepal Police Headquarters at Human Trafficking Investigation Bureau, Kathmandu Shova Pande, Dhankuta's journalist Smita Niraula, Nirmala Poudel of Shakti Samuha, Banke, and Section Officer at Ministry of Women, Children and Senior Citizens Pabitra Dhakal.
