Journey thru Chhinchu-Jajarkot stretch perilous

Jajarkot, January 18

The Chhinchu-Jajarkot road, which links the rural areas in Jajarkot with the district headquarters Khalanga, is in a sorry state. The road is riddled with potholes near the Pasagad River in Bheri Municipality which has increased the risk of accidents.

Although the condition of the road is getting worse every passing day, the authorities are least concerned. Black-topping along the Matela-Bohara-Shantichautara to Thantibazaar stretch has come off making travel through the section perilous, said Ram Bahadur Rana, a local of Bheri Municipality.

Not only at Pasagad, the segment from Chhedachaur Bazar to the district headquarters Khalanga is in an equally sorry state, said transport entrepreneur Kali Bahadur Khatri. He said although political leaders used the route to reach the district headquarters frequently, no one was concerned about improving the condition of the road.

When contacted, Bheri Municipality Mayor Chandra Prakash Gharti pledged to immediately visit the Road Division Office to talk about the issue. “The local government is all committed to upgrading the road,” he said.

Chief of Road Division Office, Chaurjahari,Kushal Bhusal said he was not officially informed about the situation. He, however, expressed his readiness to take possible measures to restore the damaged road segments.
