Journos continue stir in Far West

DADELDHURA: Demanding that the murderers of Kailali-based journalist JP Joshi be brought to book and the expenditure of the committee formed to investigate into the case be made transparent, journalists of Dadeldhura today sent broken spectacles to the government.

As per the programme of agitation declared by the Federation of Nepali Journalists, Far Western Regional Coordination Committee, the journalists sent the pair of spectacles to the government via Chief District Officer. “The government has been apathetic about identifying the murderers and taking action against them,” branch president Ram Dhami said, adding that their demands are to punish the guilty and to provide relief for the victims’ kin.

FNJ has been protesting the murder for one-and-a-half years. The team formed to probe into the incident has spent Rs 3.1 million, without being able to identify the culprit. “On one hand, Joshi’s family has not been compensated for. On the other, the culprits have not been identified despite the hefty expenditure,” said FNJ central member Chhatra Saud.
