Sarvendra Nath Shukla, Laxman Lal Karna expelled

KATHMANDU, JUNE 1

The executive committee of Janata Samajbadi Party-Nepal has decided to expel four senior party figures, including chair Mahanta Thakur, on Tuesday.

The Upendra Yadav-Baburam Bhattarai faction has decided to take action against Thakur, Rajendra Mahato, Sarvendra Nath Shukla and Laxman Lal Karna at a time when Thakur-Mahato have expedited dialogues with Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to join the government.

The two factions had engaged in a war of clarifications and counter clarifications since dispute arose within the party on the issue of whether to back up or to stand against PM Oli's political adventures.

While Mahato-Thakur have been backing up PM Oli in recent times, including staying neutral during his May 10 parliamentary floor test, Yadav-Bhattarai are opposed to the idea of supporting Oli and have joined the opposition alliance in a bid to oust him.

JSP-N leader Mohammed Ishtiyaq Rayi who belongs to the Yadav-Bhattarai faction took to social media to announce that an executive meeting of the party held in Kathmandu today decided to expel the four leaders.

The party has already apprised the Election Commission of its decision, it has been learnt.

The faction also released a statement on its decision to take action against the said leaders.
