Kailali records seven snakebite deaths in three months
Kailali, July 16
Seven persons have died in the past three months from snakebite here in the district.
Three persons died in the course of treatment whereas four died while being rushed to hospital after snakes bit them, according to Seti Zonal Hospital Emergency Ward In-charge Krishna Bohara.
Bohara added the continuing age-old practice in the remotest parts of seeking the help of shamans in the case of snakebite is also one of the reasons for death. A total of 215 persons suffering due to snakebites had arrived in Seti Zonal Hospital last year. In only just three months this year, there were 68 persons seeking treatment for snakebites.
Last year, seven persons were killed due to snakebite, whereas the same number of deaths has been recorded in the first three months of this year. Bohara advised the locals to take precaution when travelling at night.
