Kailali women protest demanding justice for Nirmala Panta
DHANGADHI: Kailali chapter of Nepal Women's Association today demonstrated in front of District Administration Office seeking justice for 13-year-old Nirmala Panta who was raped and murdered in Bhimdatta Municipality-2 on July 26.
Civil society, business community, locals among others participated in the protest organised by the Association in Dhangadhi Sub Metropolis on Sunday.
The protesters chanted slogans against the government accusing it of shielding the perpetrators by taking their guardianship.
The rally started from Chauraha of Dhangadhi, with protesters holding placards and wearing black armbands, before convening into a corner meeting in front of the District Administration Office, Kailali.
On the occasion, the women rights activists submitted the memorandum to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli via District Administration Office.
In the memorandum letter, they have urged the government to curb violence against women, find the perpetrators of Nirmala Panta's rape and murder, and book them according to existing laws.
Sushila Mishra Bhatta, Central Member of Nepal Women's Association said, "The protest would continue until the government finds the accused and books them."
She added that the government should find the perpetrators and take action against them to give justice to the 13-year-old victim.
