Kamal Thapa for Maoist-led govt
Rupandehi, July 26:
President of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Nepal (RPP-N) Kamal Thapa today said that Nepali Congress and CPN-UML did not have the moral right to bar the CPN-Maoist from forming a new government.
He also warned of dire consequences if the Maoists were deprived of the opportunity to form the government.
"As a largest party in the Constituent Assembly, the CPN-Maoist should be allowed to lead the new government," Thapa said, addressing a meeting of party cadres in Butwal.
He said the Maoists could be removed from power through a no-confidence motion if they continued their wrongdoings even after forming their government. He suggested holding election to select the Prime Minister if the chief executive could not be selected on the basis of consensus.
"If an election is held to select the PM, we will support the Maoists because Nepali people want them to lead the government," Thapa said. He also criticised CPN-Maoist, NC and CPN-UML for not coming ahead with a clear roadmap to federalise the country.
