Karnali artery shut for three months

Kalikot, October 5:

The Surkhet-Jumla section of the Karnali highway, which was obstructed from June-July due to landslides and swollen Ramaghat River, has not been reopened yet.

Over 100 vehicles laden with food items and construction materials bound for Kalikot and Jumla districts have been stranded. Goods and commodities like pulse, rice, sugar and cement have been damaged by rain. Vehicles like mini tata, jeep, mini truck and tractors have been parked in Kalikot’s Mugraha, Patal, Daha Ratadab, Pili, Serabada, Takulla, Galje, Khallagad, Rachuli, Dhanada, Phoimahadev and Nagma.

Secretary of Karnali Zonal Truck and Tractor Entrepreneurs Organisation Ratan Bahadur Shahi said, “We have been hit hard due to the road closure.”
