The Kaski District Court has extended the judicial custody of Rabi Lamichhane, President of Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), by an additional four days. Lamichhane is under investigation for alleged involvement in cooperative fraud, money laundering, and organized crime.
The decision was made on Sunday by a single bench of Judge Him Lal Belbase after Lamichhane was presented before the court for the extension. He has been in judicial custody since his arrest on October 18 from the RSP central office in Banasthali, Kathmandu. Following his arrest, he was transferred to Kaski for further investigation.
During the ongoing investigation, Lamichhane has been taken to Rupandehi, Kathmandu, and Chitwan to record his statement related to various cooperatives. He has been implicated in cases involving the Suryadarshan Cooperative in Pokhara, the Supreme Cooperative in Butwal, and the Sahara Cooperative in Chitwan.
In a related development, the Parsa District Court issued an arrest warrant on December 4 against 14 individuals, including Lamichhane, for alleged embezzlement of savings from Sano Paila Cooperatives Limited.
Lamichhane's judicial custody continues as authorities proceed with investigations across multiple districts.
