KATHMANDU, APRIL 13

The government has decided to appoint Pushpa Ram KC as the inspector general of the Armed Police Force Nepal. A Cabinet meeting held this morning decided to promote Additional Inspector General KC to the post of chief of the APF. He is on course to succeed AIG Shailendra Khanal.

Home ministry sources said KC was of the highest rank in the government's internal evaluation of the current AIGs from whom the new chief would have to be appointed. Another AIG Ram Sharan Poudel was below KC in the hierarchy.

After Khanal retired from his position yesterday, the government had assigned the duty of acting chief to KC. Another AIG Ram Sharan Poudel, was behind KC in the hierarchical order. After IGP of the Armed Police Force Shailendra Khanal retired on Monday, KC was given the responsibility of executive.

However, KC will lead the force of nearly 80,000 armed forced only for a short period of time.
