Bishwakarma taken to Bhojpur

Netra Bikram Chand-led Nepal Communist Party Spokesperson Khadga Bahadur Bishwakarma was taken to Bhojpur to investigate his involvement in the bomb explosion during elections to the House of Representatives and Provincial Assembly today.

Bishwakarma was brought to Biratnagar in Shree Airlines aircraft and was taken to Biratnagar via road.

The Supreme Court had issued a diktat to release Bishwakarma from police custody on Monday. A day after the court order, Bishwakarma was taken to Bhojpur from Kathmandu.

Bishwakarma was brought to Biratnagar airport at 11:50am. He was kept in the police van inside the airport and was taken to Bhojpur.

Morang Superintendent of Police Manoj Kumar KC said that Morang police had escorted the van ferrying Bishwakarma up to Duhabi in Sunsari.

A case has been filed at District Court Bhojpur against Biswokarma on the charge of exploding bombs targeting Province 1 Chief Minister Sherdhan Rai during the provincial and parliamentary elections held last year.

A socket bomb targeting Sherdhan Rai, common candidate of then CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre, was exploded at Gumba of Tyamkemayu Rural Municipality on November 14, 2017.

Assistant sub-inspector Dilli Devkota deployed for Rai’s security was injured in the incident at Gumba. Elected to the Provincial Assembly from Bhojpur, Rai is the chief minister.
