Khanal concerned about timely statue
BAGLUNG: CPN-UML chairman Jhalanath Khanal today warned that the nation would falter if the statute could not be drafted within the stipulated timeframe.
He made this statement while inaugurating Dhaulagiri Zonal
Party cadres’ training here. He
underscored the need for a
consensus among the three major parties to guide the nation in a successful manner.
He said that the tasks for the parties — taking peace process to a logical conclusion, drafting of the statute, restructuring of the state, transforming the economy and strengthening national unity — were cut out.
He stressed unity among the CPN-UML, Unified CPN-Maoist and the Nepali Congress.
“Drafting the constitution is the most important issue. However, it cannot be carried out without forging unity among the political parties,” he said.
He opined that there was a greater need for a wider debate on the
federal structure.
“The concept of One Madhes, One Pradesh will disintegrate the nation,” he added.
